01 · The brief

Make the task fun

A chart on the wall is an instruction, and children don't negotiate with instructions. They do negotiate with a character they like.

02 · Character design

Positive, inclusive & relatable

Fantasmin, a small pale ghost
Simple, organic shape

A soft dome and two ears. No hair, no clothes, no body type, nothing for a child to fail to match.

Neutral color

The palest blue-white in the palette: no skin tone, no mood, no verdict on the task ahead.

Minimal features

Two dots do the work. No nose, no brows. Every line left out is attention on the action.

Supporting features

A mouth to yawn or to eat, hands to hold something. Because they're rare, they land.

03 · How it's used

Show the card, not the schedule

Once the child has connected with the character, seeing an image of Fantasmin performing a task increases the child's desire to mimic the task and reinforces the kid's positive behaviour.
